The Futurama ride brought fair visitors past tiny, realistic landscapes, the future. A narrator would describe the world of tomorrow. "The 1930s held literally constructive view of the future. "Today," said Fair President Whalen "We hold tomorrow in our hands." The idea was to think plan do." (Gelenter, page 274) The town of tomorrow had 15 model homes suited for Atlantic climate conditions and were between 3,000-35,000 to construct (Wurts, page 91)
H. V Katlenborn describes a city that "Here are grass and trees as well as stone and steel. Not a dream city, but a symbol of life as lived by the Man of Tomorrow."
"No longer plan less jumble of slum and grime and smoke, but town and country joined for work and play in sunlight and good air."
"At the center are government, business, amusement, while out beyond are home and workshop, mine and mill, dependent on each other."
"As day fades into night, each man seeks home for here are children, comfort, neighbors, recreation --- the good life of the well planned city."
