33 States and territories participated in the fair (Applebaum xii). The State pavilions were situated around a relecting pool with a full scale replica of Independence Hall at the rear (Cotter 73).
The New England Exhibit included, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, an d Vermont grouped in an artificial harbor (Cotter 76). A main attraction was the Yankee, full scale clipper ship exhibiting marine history (Cotter 77).
The NJ pavilion was styled like the Trenton Barracks. During the French and Indian War, George Washington captured it after crossing the Delaware. Large Photographic displays showcased the states History and tourism industry (Cotter 74).
Like many other states, Missouri showed aspects of its scenery, history and industries, but also prominently displayed its famous residents such as Mark Twain, and Thomas Hart Benton (Cotter 75).
